The Right Prescription Starts With the Right Evaluation

Weight gain is rarely caused by one issue. Appetite signaling, insulin resistance, sleep apnea, medications, stress, hormonal changes, nutrition, activity and genetics may all matter. W8MD evaluates the full picture before recommending treatment.

Medical screening

Review current conditions, medications, contraindications, vital signs, BMI and laboratory needs.

Personalized options

Compare benefits, risks, administration, insurance coverage, price and treatment preferences.

Sleep health

Screen for snoring, fatigue and obesity-related sleep apnea; arrange home sleep testing when appropriate.

Maintenance

Build nutrition, protein, activity, follow-up and relapse-prevention strategies around treatment.

One coordinated program

Weight Loss, Sleep and Wellness—Connected

Prescription treatment works best when nutrition, metabolic health, sleep and long-term habits are addressed together.

Common questions

Weight Loss Prescription FAQ

These general answers cannot determine which medication is safe or appropriate for you.

Explore all medications
Which FDA-approved weight loss prescription works best?

There is no single best medication for everyone. Selection depends on medical history, BMI, related conditions, contraindications, pregnancy plans, current drugs, desired administration, insurance, price and response to prior treatment.

Are oral GLP-1 weight loss pills now available?

Yes. Wegovy tablets containing semaglutide were approved for weight reduction in adults, and Foundayo containing orforglipron became a newly approved oral GLP-1 option in 2026. Each has specific dosing and safety instructions.

Does W8MD accept insurance?

W8MD accepts many insurance plans for qualifying medical visits. Medication coverage is separate and depends on the plan’s formulary, exclusions, deductible, copay and prior-authorization requirements.

Are compounded GLP-1 medicines FDA-approved?

No. Compounded medications do not undergo FDA premarket review for safety, quality and effectiveness and are not the same as FDA-approved brand-name products. Availability and legal requirements can change.

Can W8MD help with sleep apnea?

Yes. W8MD can screen for obstructive sleep apnea, arrange home sleep testing when appropriate and discuss PAP therapy and weight management. Zepbound has an FDA-approved indication for moderate-to-severe OSA in adults with obesity who meet the prescribing criteria.
